I worked in a factory for 10 years working on production machinery. The plant closed down and 200 of us were left without jobs. I quickly realized that in the job market today, without advanced skills and education, your marketability is very limited.
I decided quickly that I wanted to pursuit a job in the medical field, so I began to attempt to picture myself doing the various jobs. While doing so, I remembered a few years back when I had broken my wrist, when I took a bad fall while riding on the back of a shopping cart in Wal-mart parking lot (at the age of 27). I always wondered why my parents said not to do that! The man who took my radiographs was a really nice guy who took the time to show me the images as they came out of the processor. I can specifically remember being able to picture myself on the other side of the booth. I began to research the field and enrolled in a program.
Now I am an RT(R) and could not imagine doing anything else. I still catch myself wanting to hitch a ride on the back of those carts though.
Good luck.

Check the DOL for state employment stats (though the market is changing faster than the Feds can survey it) or better, call the permeanent placement rep at one of the big recruiting firms in the back of Advance Magazine. Krikes, it's a sad day in Imaging Land when a sonographer can't find work.
Good luck.

Ditto, I'd rather do a CT than full C spine series. It's faster in some cases and leaves no doubt.
